Cultivating Friendships | Noomii Blog

?I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.? Brene Brown

My oldest and best friend, Melissa, and I met in Grade 7. We shared a double-desk, passed notes, and got to know each other like two young girls do. More than 20 years later, we laugh about our banter, small fights and marvel about the light and beautiful connection that we have managed to maintain throughout marriages, divorces, children and across continents.

What are the most important things in your life?

Considering the most the meaningful things in our lives, friendships top the list. Brene Brown aptly describes the connection that friendships provide: the strength and nourishment we get from the unconditional love of truly deepened friendships.

Ze Frank?s video about friendship is poignant and touching, a call to action for both parties dedication co-creation of the relationship:

How much attention do you pay to these relationships in your life? Built on reciprocity: mutual sharing and disclosure, much like other romantic and familial relationships, friendships require the same tending if to varying degrees.

Friendships fade out happens for a number of reasons, but given the importance and what you get from these relationships, will they fade out because of lack of attention? Decide whether leaning back into the love of your friendships is valuable enough to invest yourself in.

What will you invest in your relationships?
