Brendan Dineen, Director of Marketing for IBM in the UK & Ireland, has been appointed Visiting Professor at Portsmouth Business School.
In addition to his role at IBM, Professor Dineen will spend three years at the University of Portsmouth sharing insight, skills and experience gained in a career that has seen him play leading marketing roles in the UK, North America, China, South Africa and across Europe.
Outside IBM, Professor Dineen recently spent two years on secondment to the Mayor of London?s business team as Director of the 2012 Games. In this role he was asked to develop and implement the marketing strategy to attract foreign direct investment into the capital as a result of the Games.
The Business School at Portsmouth offers a selection of courses in sales and marketing at undergraduate and post-graduate level and currently has more than 350 students.
Beth Rogers, Head of Marketing and Sales at Portsmouth Business School, welcomed his appointment saying: ?I am delighted that Brendan will be joining the Portsmouth Business School team. It is an honour to have a marketing practitioner of his stature involved in the design and delivery of our marketing and sales curriculum.?
Commenting on his appointment Professor Dineen said: ?In an increasingly mobile and social world? where technology is so completely pervasive and so entirely connected the role of marketing is changing rapidly.
?It is essential that the next generation of marketing professionals come to the market as fully prepared as possible for both the challenges and opportunities ahead.
?It is also apparent to me that Beth and the team at Portsmouth Business School focus on both the practical as well as the academic aspects of the marketing profession and I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the team.?
